Brasswind Research
THE NEW LEADER IN MOUTHPIECE DESIGN
HOW TO USE
FIVE SIMPLE STEPS TO GET THE MOST OUT OF OUR MOUTHPIECES:
Step 1
Select a mouthpiece body that describes the kind of sound you want and that is designed for your type of instrument (Bb or C, etc.)
Step 2
Select a rim size according to our detailed
Sizometer Chart
.
Assemble the mouthpiece, and insert the combination into the instrument.
Step 3
After a brief warmup,
carefully tune
your instrument with a tuning meter so (open) middle C plays
clearly
at about 0 cents error.
Step 4
ENJOY, as most instruments are already designed to cooperate with our carefully calibrated acoustic setup. Hotswap any model.
Step 5
Contact us at Brasswind Research to exchange your rim for a better fitting size if needed.
INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES:
For some individuals, the combination of instrument, mouthpiece, and embouchure can give rise to one of two tendencies:
A:
If play testing reveals a tendency for
ascending scale-wise flatness
then we can provide a "High pitch" rim for correction.
B:
If play testing reveals an opposite tendency for
ascending sharpness
then a "Low pitch" rim will help correct that issue
C:
Other rim contours are available, and we will do our best to select or design a rim to help meet your needs.
